New Reading Challenge for Kids in March
The Youth Services Department at the McPherson Public Library is pleased to announce the start of another reading challenge. The 5 Kinds of Nonfiction Reading Challenge begins on March 1st and runs throughout the month. This challenge is sponsored by Lerner Publishing in celebration of National Reading Month, which inspires and motivates all ages to read every day.
The challenge is customized to encourage PreK-12 readers to explore their favorite nonfiction topics and themes throughout March. Participants in this challenge will gain access to eBooks courtesy of the Lerner Digital Bookshelf to attempt to explore the 5 Kinds of Nonfiction: Active, Browseable, Traditional, Expository Literature, and Narrative.
“We love the variety of themes within this challenge,” said Jennifer McCulley, Youth Services Coordinator. “Readers will find books that cover everything from animals to sports to STEM.”
In addition to logging books and minutes, readers can complete activities to earn additional badges and tickets. Tickets can be entered to try to win prizes that the library will give away at the end of the challenge. To join the challenge, register for Beanstack at macpl.beanstack.org or download the Beanstack app. For questions, please contact the Youth Services Department at the library at 245-2570.
