Summer Library Events
Why Reading in the Summer Matters
Reading is one of the best ways to help kids prevent the ‘summer slide’, when young people begin to regress in academic when they stop attending school for such a long period. Experts warn us every year that the impact for kids in reading is about a 20% loss in skills. Our aim is to help them not lose these skills and help prevent them from falling behind when school resumes in the fall.
Our mission is to help fill the gap and keep our programs and services free for everyone all year long.
